Are you up to the challenge of working round the world and are you passionate about marine engineering? Then read about what Van Oord can offer you. We are looking for Junior Superintendents for our international projects.

The position
As a Junior Superintendent, you will oversee day-to-day project operations and work on optimising the output process. You will spend a lot of time outdoors and pay regular visits to our vessels.

Other duties:
- Preparing project plans.
- Monitoring the progress of the work and assist where necessary.
- Supervising that your team observes safe working practices and that the results satisfy the quality requirements.
- Together with your team and the relevant departments at the head office, helping to complete a variety of prestigious projects worldwide.

We ask for
- People of a practical nature who can enter and grow in this position from a variety of different educational backgrounds. You should have a secondary vocational (MBO), higher professional (HBO) or university (WO) degree, preferably in civil engineering.
- A colleague who is self-assured, enterprising and focused on getting results.
- Willingness to spend an average of eight months a year working abroad.
- A team player who is eager to supervise others and willing to take responsibility.
- A good command of English and, preferably, other languages.

Who we are
Van Oord is an international organisation with a team of practical, highly motivated professionals who share a passion for water and technology. Our passion has made us what we are today: a world-class marine contractor. We are currently looking for ambitious technical graduates who share the same passion. We will introduce you to marine engineering and prepare you for a career that will take you around the world. Are you eager to build an international career? Then apply as from March 2012 for our traineeship programme that starts in September 2012.

Traineeship description
Our technical traineeship is an excellent stepping stone in your career and an ideal chance to get to know various aspects of the marine contracting, dredging and offshore sector in a short space of time. By working in various departments and on projects both in the Netherlands and abroad, you will get to know Van Oord, your colleagues and our projects. For example, you will become familiar with the production process on board a trailing suction hopper dredger, cutter suction dredger or side stone dumping vessel and spend a few weeks working on an international project site. After finalizing your traineeship you will work on our international projects, at our Technical Department or our Estimating and Engineering department.

What we want
You are a technical graduate (or near-graduate) of a civil engineering, mechanical engineering, technical business administration or a comparable higher professional or university programme and have a maximum of three years work experience. You are flexible and prepared to work abroad. Furthermore you have strong analytical skills, you are eager to take on a management position and you speak fluent English.
